Speleology in Macedonia

Even though the carbon rocks, the base for the formation of the caves and the pits on the Macedonian territory are occupy very small area (10%) still the number of the speleological objects is significant. So far, about 300 speleological objects are explored but it is assumed that the total number of caves and pits in Macedonia is beyond 500.

However, for 80 years as much as speleological explorations in Macedonia exist also considering the social circumstances, Speleology in our country is not on the right level yet, in other words it is still developing.

Carier of his development for the last 20 years is the Macedonian Speleological Federation.
